Available information about the accuracy of SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) data was collected and the possibility of their application to the assessment of morphometrical characteristics of under-construction and planned reservoirs were analyzed in this paper. The experience of the author of the application of digital elevation models and GIS-technologies for solving applied problems of water-resources development on the samples of reservoirs of Sukhovskaya, Telminskaya, Boguchanskaya and Motyginskaya Hydro Power Stations were described.
