Mineral composition reconstruction of Baikal’s deep-water deposit based on chemical composition

Abstract
The calculation method of stoichiometric formulas of mixed-layer clay minerals which allows to use simplex-method for quantitative estimation of mineral composition of bottom sediment of the lake Baikal based on petrochemical composition is offered. The received results show good convergence with the X-ray analyses data and reflect paleoclimatic changes in the region (drill holes BDP-96, BDP-98, the Academic ridge).
