Data on soil-forming factors, conditions, genesis, and properties for the background soils (mountain meadow, meadow, podzolic, sod-podzolic and gray forest) in Priangarye have been presented. The soil-forming processes have been investigated, and on the base of the results obtained position of the soils in the classification system has been determined. Physical parameters, soil organic matter characteristics and features of the geochemical element redistribution within the soil profile have been studied. The data obtained adequately represent specific feature of the natural soil-forming process in Priangarye. The parameters characterizing the background soils condition can be considered as reference ones for evaluation of the condition of identical soils affected by technological pollution and anthropogenic factors in the industrial regional territories.
