The technology of an automated estimation of the Lake Baikal surface layer characters with AVHRR data

Abstract
Satellite remote sensing may provide an adequate data for the Lake Baikal research. However, satellite data, distorted by the shape and rotation of the Earth, by variations in satellite orbits and altitudes, and by atmospheric effects, should be treated. In this connection, the critical problems of automation of remotely sensed data processing are discussed in this paper.
