The paper proposes principles for assessment the sustainability of landscapes of different taxonomic rank. We determined background resistance, considered as the original score, for the landscapes of regional rank in terms of their potential environmental and biological effectiveness of climate index. Also we estimated the calculated stability for the landscapes of local rank, which can correct the original score by criteria of natural and anthropogenous features. We compiled a map of landscape stability of the catchment basin of Lake Baikal within Eastern Siberia and Mongolia according to the developed technique. The map has its description text.
