We consider the issues of finding new ways to control the environment quality in big cities and single-industry towns from the standpoint of environmental safety of population. Existing methods of environmental information organization in this area do not address the needs of operational-level management. We draw attention to the potential of scenario approach in the form of environmental situational scenarios. On the example of environmental weather scenarios we discuss the possibility of the target organization of accumulated climatic data for the operational assessment and prediction of environmental situation, as well as for management of transport and industrial enterprises. In the future the implementation of scenario methodology in the field of environmental management can produce a very significant positive environmental effect, so investigation in this regard is very important today.
