The Investigation of Optical Turbulence for Highly Stably-Stratified of the Atmosphere

The results of investigations of turbulence structure conducted in surface layer of atmosphere along a horizontal track located at the Sayan Solar Observatory site for a very stably-stratified atmosphere are shown. Data obtained from optical and micrometeorological measurements show that atmospheric turbulence does not degenerate when Richardson numbers exceed the critical value of (contrary to the classical ideas of the theory of turbulence). The result obtained is in agreement with new S. S. Zilitinkevich`s theory of turbulence wherein regime of «weak» turbulence is distinguished at supercritical values of the Richardson number . It is shown also that turbulence located in individual regions of optical path under conditions of large vertical temperature gradients and small wind speed can reach high intensity.
