Abstract
Tourist-recreational zoning of the north-western part of Central Asia, including the territories of three states – Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, is organized. Tourist and recreational resources of the northwestern part of Central Asia, including the territories of three states – Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan – are studied. The importance of tourism development in the region is considered. The problems that hamper the development of the tourism industry, among which the low awareness of Russian tourists about the opportunities of the tourism industry in the Central Asian region, the difficulty of crossing the border, especially with Uzbekistan, the high cost of tickets, the inconsistency of price and quality, etc., have been identified. Positive factors for the development of tourism are noted: beautiful historical monuments unique natural landscapes oriental flavour and local hospitality visa-free regime with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the lack of a language barrier and a relatively low cost of services. Different approaches and methods of tourist and recreational zoning are considered. The methodology of tourist and recreational zoning is developed and tested. Tourist-recreational potential of the region, including an inventory of recreational resources and the study of tourist infrastructure, is researched. A scheme of tourist and recreational zoning of the northwestern part of Central Asia with the allocation of mesoregions and regions with different degrees of recreational use is drawn up and their detailed characteristics are given. The natural, historical, socio-economic conditions underlying its tourist and recreational potential are reflected.
