The Development of Rural Tourism in the Baikal Region

Abstract
Agro-tourism is considered as a tool for sustainable development of rural areas. Foreign and domestic experience of rural tourism development is studied. Problems of agrotourism development in Russia is identified. Special attention is paid to consideration of the Baikal region as a centre of rural tourism in Russia. A map is compiled and the characteristic of the basic existing centres and promising areas of agro-tourism in the Baikal region is given.
