Abstract
The paper discusses the characteristics of the atmospheric circulation processes in Russia in the summer months 2013. Special attention is paid to investigation of synoptic conditions for extended periods with high temperatures which lead to droughts and fires, and heavy rainfall that caused catastrophic floods in the Far East.
