Abstract
The paper considers a wide range of issues related to the development of resources and the formation of the infrastructure of health and wellness recreation in the Irkutsk region. It has been established that four health resort zones are currently fully functioning: Ust-Kut, IrkutskCheremkhovo, Pribaikalskaya and Bratskaya. Based on the updated information, an analysis of the territorial differentiation of the infrastructure of health and wellness recreation in the context of municipal districts was conducted. Spatial analysis showed that the institutions are confined to two main settlement strips that have historically developed in the region along the main transport highways. The historical retrospective reflects the trends in the development of health resort practice in the region. The practical significance of the work lies in the use of the obtained results for the development of strategies for the social and economic development of the region and individual municipalities in the process of forming the relevant sections of the regional subprograms "Development of domestic and inbound tourism in the Irkutsk region", the strategy for the development of the health resort complex of the Irkutsk region.
